Robotic Forklifts NSW
New South Wales hosts the largest concentration of distribution centres in Australia, with the Western Sydney industrial corridor alone covering over 4,000 hectares of warehousing and logistics floor space. Robots Now! supplies, integrates and services autonomous forklifts and robotic material handling equipment across the entire state from our Sydney office in Coronation Drive.
Why NSW Operations Are Automating Faster
Three forces are driving NSW warehouses to robotic forklifts faster than any other state:
- Wage pressure — Sydney forklift operator wages are now the highest in Australia, with shift loadings pushing fully-loaded labour costs above $52/hour
- Land cost — with prime industrial land near Mascot and South Sydney exceeding $1,400/m², operators need to extract more pallet movements per square metre
- Infrastructure pipeline — the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, Moorebank Logistics Park (MLP), and the new Inland Rail terminals are concentrating freight volumes into automation-ready facilities
NSW Industrial Corridors We Serve
Western Sydney
Eastern Creek, Erskine Park, Wetherill Park, Prestons, Minto. The 4,000+ ha corridor handles ~40% of national containerised freight from Port Botany.
Greater Sydney South
Mascot, Botany, Banksmeadow, Alexandria. Port-adjacent operations with critical dwell-time pressures and limited yard expansion.
Hunter Region
Newcastle, Beresfield, Tomago. Heavy industry, port logistics, and a growing cluster of cold storage and FMCG DCs serving northern NSW.
Illawarra
Wollongong, Port Kembla, Unanderra. Steel, manufacturing, and increasing third-party logistics capacity.
Central Coast & Hunter Valley
Tuggerah, Somersby, Cessnock. Wine logistics, FMCG distribution, and emerging e-commerce fulfilment hubs.
Regional NSW
Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour. Manufacturing, agribusiness, and regional distribution.
NSW SafeWork & AS/NZS Compliance
SafeWork NSW classifies powered industrial trucks as plant requiring risk-controlled operation under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017. Autonomous forklifts add an additional compliance pathway: AS/NZS ISO 3691-4 (Industrial trucks — Safety requirements and verification — Driverless industrial trucks). Our deployments include the safety case documentation, hazard identification, and verification reports that SafeWork NSW inspectors expect to see when autonomous trucks are introduced into a workplace.
For more on the ISO standard see ISO 3691-4 Safety Standard Australia.
